Minutes for OT2 Meeting 16/07/2007
Learning Objectives
1. learn about the culture,tradition,livelihood of the people
2. learn about the importance of conservation and how we can do our part
- understand their situation
- understand the impact of environmental problems
- how we conserve must be transferabble and sustainable

How do we measure success?
1. through the sustainability of the project (eg. whether the herbal garden will last, whether our education will be passed on?)
2. inspiring another group of people to go for the trip and share our experiences with peers when we return (eg. have a presentation on the trip for the school)
3. by having a form of kinship with the people there by end of the trip

Service Objectives
1. Set up a herbal garden
2. Educate the children on the importance of conservation
3. Tree planting
4. Orchid rescue


Suggestions for project name
- Project E^2 ( Environment X Eco-tourism )
- Project E=mc^2 ( Environment = Me X Care X Concern )
if u got any more ideas for the name, feel free to tell me! xD

Administrative Stuff
- the database website will be set up by Friday. Fill in your particulars there when its done. Includes your last CIP project. ( so u might want to start thinking now! )
- our service and learning objectives, together with our particulars will be submitted to National Youth Council (NYC)
- complete and return OT consent forms to me by Friday 20/7
- show the OT2 letter to parents
- editorial head(PY) to set up a forum online. have threads for discussion of project name and for parents to post questions regarding OT2.
- logistics heads to compile winterwear buying list,discuss whether to buy in bulk, contact Miss Teo for contacts and information.
- Various heads to submit names of group members, programs, pre-post activities by Monday 23/7 to Ms Ng. Please keep in mind our Service and Learning Objectives while doing so.
- orchid rescue group will join education group
- herbal garden group will join tree planting.
- parent's email to be given to YongSheng and Ms Ng via online database.
- we need to plan a pre-trip project. ( collaborate with organisations such as N-parks or other conservation groups. )
- log on to NYC or WEP webby to view past projects.

sorry for the overlap on some stuffs between the 2 minutes posts. I'll work smth out with JQ to come up with a structure that best satisfies your viewing desires. =P.

remember to do things from the HEART. so that we'll be able to do something meaningful for the community,beneficial to our lives and perhaps even change some misconceptions that people have about odac overseas trips.
