Always in chinese swordsman movies:
.being the hero's parents will always be unlucky as they will usually be killed by enemies when the hero is young.
.a martial-arts master will make the orphan his disciple but instead of learning martial arts, the orphan gets ordered to cook or chop wood.
.the hero is a weakling at first, but will learn an ultimate fighting skill which allows him to become a valiant fighter.
.when an old man is dying after being attacked by villains, he will, while lying down, ask the hero(kneeling beside him) to take care of his beautiful daughter(who'll be crying).
.no matter how powerful the hero is, he will never realise his good buddy is a girl in disguise.
.skilled people are able to fly over rooftops and lakes, up trees and across mountains without a sweat. but when travelling to villages, they have to walk or ride a horse.
.when inside an inn, the waiter will ask the hero what food he wants, and the hero will say:"just any small dishwill do(shui bian lai dian xiao cai)." and the waiter will always know what to do and go away without any more questions.
.the heroes need not work for money, but they will always have gold and silver with them to pay for their meals.
.the heroes and villains will keep running into each other - no matter where they are.
.the inn is such an up-to-date information centre that when having lunch there, you can always overhear people gossiping about what's happening. and usually the gossip will come from a few goons at the next table.
.there can never be peace at the inn so long as the hero is there. the bad guys at the next table will complain about the slow service and turn over the table, threatening to kill the waiter... and it's then time for the hero to show off his righteouness and most importantly, show his skills.
.assassins seem to have some kind of agency for employment - they always wear the same uniform: black cloth all over revealing only the eyes.
.roofttops prove to be more formidable than the great wall of china. assassins always escape by flying over rooftops and the hero will give up the chase.
